Our Mission

The mission of the residency program at Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC) is to provide trainees with advanced and concentrated training in the specialty of Internal Medicine in an environment that fosters a culture of quality continuous improvement, and safety.

Program Aims

  1. Provide a didactic and clinical environment that supports the educational and wellness needs of diverse trainees in the attainment of such competencies that they may serve their communities not only as physicians, but as good citizens.
  2. Provide the resources needed for the career development of our trainees.
  3. Foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and safety.
  4. Teach patient-centered communication through shared decision-making and effective interactions with patients, families, other caregivers and other professionals.

Future Residents

VVMC Internal Medicine offers four first-year resident positions each year.

Applicants must meet one of the ACGME requirements listed below.

  1. Must be a graduate from an Osteopathic medical school in the United States accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA)
  2. Must be a graduate from a medical school in the United States and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
  3. Graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada (foreign medical graduate FMG) must possess a current valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), or, have a full unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. licensing jurisdiction in which they are training.
  4. Graduates of medical schools outside the United States, who have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school.

The academic year begins July 1st.

You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

  2. Appointments are made through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). You must register through the NRMP website in addition to applying through ERAS.
  3. Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to visit for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty. Interviews are conducted from mid-December to mid-January each year.

If your Comlex or USMLE scores as listed above are not available at the time of ranking, you will not be eligible to be ranked with the NRMP.
